The Matter and Accelerator Infrastructures is looking for
Scientific Officer (f/m/d) LEAPS / Photon Science
Your Tasks
- You support the scientific director of HZB in his role as chair of the League of European Accelerator-based Photon Sources (LEAPS):
- You ensure regular communication between the LEAPS board members.
- You coordinate the development of future LEAPS strategies and programmes.
- You actively support the development and maintenance of ongoing contacts with relevant stakeholders.
- You are responsible for the foresight management in the field of accelerator infrastructures/photon science:
- You prepare reports and analyses on upcoming topics relevant to research, taking into account national and international trends and opportunities.
- You assess topics that are essential for the centre's positioning.
- In close coordination with scientific partners and the administration, you develop project ideas and bring them to the application phase.
Your Profile
- University degree in natural sciences, preferably combined with knowledge in the field of research or use of accelerator-based light sources, ideally a PhD in physics, physical chemistry, materials science or a related field
- Knowledge of the national, European and international research landscape with synchrotron radiation
- Very good knowledge of English (C1 level), ideally, very good knowledge of German
- Quick comprehension, high degree of self-organisation, reliability, strong cooperation, and communication skills
- Desirable: Knowledge of the national and European science system, in particular the Helmholtz Association
- Desirable: Experience in science or project management
